I fulfil the patients\u2019 wishes as far as is medically possible. The treatment spectrum ranges from only minor corrections of fillings or bite elevations to a completely new smile design, which should work both aesthetically as well as functionally in the long term. However, it is important to communicate clearly and openly with the patient in order to find out what is important to them, and to find solutions together to adjust expectations according to the therapy that is possible. We use the most up-to-date methods currently available on the market. For example, digital X-rays and 3D images, a visual preview of the future dental restoration produced in the laboratory, the latest dental adhesive materials and measurement of the temporomandibular joint movement using the Freecorder BlueFox. Visualisation has a particular advantage as it gives the patient a clear idea of the end result. This is done in collaboration with our laboratories, using wax and mock-ups that can be presented to the patient in advance. This gives them the opportunity to see the end result beforehand. This was influenced by our family dentist at the time, who would explain every step to me before treatments, even as a child. For me, dentistry combines the scientific with the practical. Years later, after completing my classical ballet training, I did an internship at a dental laboratory to find out if I would enjoy the dental profession and if I had the necessary practical skills.
